Texas sounds pretty good.
Here in the "peoples Republic of Massachusetts" the crooks are more entitled to your stuff than you are.

Some new vehicles don't have coils/plugwires. Each spark plug has a coil attached directly to it. It's call direct fire ignition. These engines also don't have a distributor.

I had some moron steal the front driver's side wheel and tire from my 73 buick. It was a rusty, bone stock, stamped steel wheel with no hubcap. Why did he steal it? Because his A-body olds had a flat driver's front tire. Guess wheels only fit in one place on the car. At least he had the decency to put my car on a block. Reported it to the cops and the apartment manager. 3 days later the schmuck was back in the neighborhood and the manager saw him. He got me, I id'ed the tire (I had just bought a new matching set) and we called the cops. The cops got there ran the tags and the car was reported stolen. They called the owners who showed up and said the tire wasn't theirs. They let me have my tire back and I went home. The cops then took some personal items from the car to the apartment the manager pointed out. They knocked on the door. "Excuse me sir, can you identify these items?" "Yes, that's my stereo and child's car seat" "Thankyou sir. Please turn around, place your hands behind your back. You have the right to remain silent........."

Turns out the slime in the apartment had bought it from the owners who showed up. But he didn't come through with the final payment so they reported it stolen. The cops were working on the paperwork from 9:30pm till 5:30 am.

Man, I love all the stories and ideas that everyone has. Last night I made sure it was locked, ( which usually just ends up with a window being broken) and yanked my rotor. No one messed with it thankfully.
TigerDan, I was looking for a manual shut off for the gas but can't find one. Any ideas where to get one?
I think the alarm will ultimately be the way to go before I end up with so many kill switches I won't even be able to start it.

Theft SUCKS... I had a very nice 78 F250 4X4, all the right stuff on it, came home to find the hood up one day, and the next day came home to a bare spot in the driveway. never found it, but I swear i've seen the wheels and tires on a local truck!!!
You know you can load those 12 guage shells with rock salt. Won't do any permanet damage, but damn, would it ever hurt. Have fun!!!

Here's a shutoff they can't get around. At night just place a couple of roofing nails behind your wheels. They can't get around the tires going flat, and somebody driving with flats (especially multiple ones) will attract tons of attention if they're even able to keep on going. Just remember they're still there in the morning before you leave!

An old story from these parts ...

Guy get's out of his car and starts to walk away from it ...

A bunch of "kids" standing nearby call out and ask " hey mister do you want us to mind your car" ( for a small sum of money of course!!! ) ....

He points to his large dog sitting on the back seat , "it's OK , he say's , the dog minds my car" ........

The "kids" respond, "can he put out a fire" !!!!!!!!!!

PS. glad your wheels is OK , me id shoot first ask question's later , but we are not allowed to carry guns in Ireland , hmmm ... probably just aswell !!!!

Rob, just did a quick search and found a couple at Speedway motors. Tried to copy and and paste the link for you but it didn't seem to want to work. Just go to www.speedwaymotors.com and search for "Fuel shut off" and it will take you right to a few of them. There may also be some at Jegs and Summit. -TD

Thanks a lot everyone for all the ideas. That boot is a cool product but being an on call Fire Fighter/EMT I need to get my truck rolling quick on a call. I think the fuel shut off will work nice along with an alarm. Thanks for the product sites. I don't want to lose my truck.

Yeah, I'm sure it's bound to happen to me. I'm sure the other guys won't laugh too much when they pass me on the side of the road en route to the station.
