ok ill jump in with the 460 thing i use to deliver for heilig meyers furniture in a 95 ford superduty box truck 460 gasser 18 foot box and driving it like i was an 18 year old driving a company vehicle because i was ill give it this it had some power it would spin the tires and run all day at the speed limiter im guessing around 90 mph but to say the least here in the hills of wv that 460 never hit double digits id say it averaged 5-7 MPG running it hard id say you could get 15 empty driving like your 100 but what fun is that
I have honesty got 14mpg with my 93 460 ZF with 3.55 gears empty, That was 70+mph in the summer. Normally mixed driving is about 10-12mpg. Been looking at getting a diesel but the price of diesel is higher and added maintence probably a break even deal. A guy I work with has a 99 super duty with the zf6speed. He says he gets 19-20mpg unloaded. I am looking at a 85 f250 with 6.9l this afternoon for $2500 the owner said it got around 16mpg 18 was the best.
I've got a 92 4x4 f250 king cab, long bed diesel. I bought the truck about a month ago. The guy I bought the truck from works with me and he says that he was getting between 18-19 mpg. He checked it constantly. I've checked it twice since I've bought it and I'm only getting 13mpg. What is everybody else getting and where should I start looking first. Thanks
Well, I had a 7.3L naturally aspirated IDI with a 5 speed Long bed Extended Cab 4X4. I got, depending how it was driven, 16 to 20 around town. That is NOT city driving. I have a 6,0L now, and summer I get 20-21. Winter is down near 17. If you are getting on it, you will get lousy milage. Drive it easy, and it will reward you.

I have a 94 F250 4x4 super cab long bed with a IDI TD, E40D, 4.10 gears 235/85/16 tires at 80psi. The truck had 122k miles at the start of the trip and a bit over 123k at the end. I drove it back from FL and tested the mileage. Here is what I got...the truck was basically empty...one motorcycle in the bed and pulling a jet ski on a trailer.
Cruise Control set at 70mph (about 2250rpm) --> 13mpg
Cruise Control set at 60mph (about 2000rpm) --> 16.5mpg
Cruise Control set at 55mph (about 1800rpm) --> 21.3mpg
All of the above figures are indicated (as opposed to GPS confirmed etc) and were obtained in very similar moderately hilly conditions on the same day and were tested for more than 100 miles.
