blinking overdrive light

blinking overdrive light
I have a 1991 7.3 250 with an E4OD trans. When I let off the gas pedal, the overdrive light starts to blink and the tach falls to zero. As soon as I accelerate a decent amount, the light stops blinking and the tach resumes normal operation. Any ideas?
