I have a 99.5 PSD crewcab 2X2.....neighbor has '01 same truck. His truck has added insulation above turbo (under cowling) and firewall (master cylinder area). His cab is much quieter than mine is...I suspect this is the reason. I have tried to purchase these pieces from 4 ford dealers. None of them can locate these parts for ordering. Any help?
You will have a very hard time finding it, but don't give up. If all else fails, go to a industrial/commercial insulation supplier and ask for duct wrap insulation used for the outside of air ducts. It is about 1/2 to 3/4" thick and has a silver backing just like to insulation around the turbo. And you can cut it yourself and put it in more places than ford does for even a quieter cab.
I like to use it in panel vans because it looks good and keeps it cool in to summer and hot during the winter. And most importantly, it keeps the road noise out.
