yeah those are the same trucks the contractors had in Iraq. They were all over the place, they could go to, not like a HMMWV, but they went where they needed to. But I gotta tell you guys.....the truck is small. Like my step-dad's 83 toyota small. Definately not the same chassis as the U.S. version. Also, I never saw one that wasn't the true 4 door, 4x4 crewcab model. And they were all blue or orange.
For all that , i would like , if i could get , and afford one, a nice 2.5 ltr Gas model, hmmmm..... what a lovely sound them engine's make ...... i can hear it now !!!!!! :-)
Wow, so would I be lead to assume that you have never heard the "roar" and "whine" of the Lightning's supercharged v-8? Or even the roar of the v-8 alone?? What kind of sports cars do you guy's have over there? And what kind of powerplants are they??? (sorry for the ignorance).
Hi Traxxis , yeah we do have BIG engines over here , but not as many as you guys !!!! There are loads of BMW's , Merc's, Lexus's (?) , etc , etc ,,, but even many of these would be turbo and not normally aspirated ...
There is a kinda roar off an American engine you don't get here that much !!!!! Hey you can't have everything :-(
Someone mentioned trying to import one and safety issues.
My truck will have to be road tested when it's one year old , and every year thereafter , the emissions etc are pretty restrictive , and it does have to have safety glass, front and rear seat belts , etc etc ...
Great truck Kitz, I hope you get many years of joy out of it.
I am the same as most people here. I would love to have the option of a mini Powerstroke to put in my Ranger. I have the 4.0, and cringe every time I pull into the gas station.
Benjam , not on a regular basis, the only thing i towed so far was a friends car , i did not notice any difference !!
There is a very steep hill near me , my old 2.6 ltr dsl van just made it up ,slooooooly . This baby flies up !!!!
Very nice looking ride Kitz E Kat, I believe many in the USA will be envious of your vehicle.
Nice flip~up bed cover, & four real doors. Nice paint scheme & wheels too.
I've looked all over for the particulars on the turbo engine, but seems they only speak of it's "driving dynamics" but no specification numbers for horsepower, torque, ect, ect.
Did notice they were saying it had a one ton payload.
My 1999 4.0L 5spd auto 4x2 with the factory payload package is only rated at 1440 pounds paload.
Bet you have larger brakes & maybe a fully boxed frame.
Could you post a link that gives the specifications for the Ranger as sold in Ireland???
How much of the cost of petrol in Ireland is taxes???
Here in the USA the total federial/state tax per gallon, petrol or diesel, is about 1/3 of the total cost, depending on where you live.
Some states here, tax more heavily than others.
The federal tax rate is the same in all states.
For the specs, scroll up to my last post. I dont remember the site where i found them, but it was a ford site (not someone's estimate). They weren't in horsepwer and foot/lbs., but i found another site to convert them.
99xlt , you might tell me what that means ? Good or bad?
I ain't up on HP etc !!!! I bought is cos it looked great, and drove great , what more could you ask for !!!
As for fuel consumption i can't find a MPG figure, but i get about 200 miles for €20. To make a long story short , its the same for a friends 1ltr petrol/gas Toyota yaris, which is a shoe box !!!!! So that's pretty good , my Ranger gets the same $ for $ millage as a shoe box !!!!!
Hey i aint got no problem with that !!!!!
But yeah , could you translate that into girl lingo:-)
Quote..........
only about 110 hp @ 3500 rpm, but 196 ft/lbs @ 2000. Thats RIGHT off idle!!
What's that about ?
Regardless i LOVE drivin my truck :-)
Good luck
Opps , forgot , the taxes on gas in Ireland are mad , about 60% or so and rising .........
I was wondering if you were a girl, but i didnt want to make you mad if you were a guy.
My 4.0 has 160hp @ 4200rpm and 225 ft/lbs. @ 2800rpm.
your rpm's are lower meaning better usable power and better towing. But for a 4 cylinder those numbers are great. The torque is your real advantage (thats the pulling power) Your truck is really close in performance to my larger engine and gets way better fuel economy.
so to make it short, your truck is really good. We are all jealous of you.
