It will look something like this but not exactly:
C5AE-6015-A
first character is decade:
B= 50-59
C= 60-69
D= 70-79
E= 80-89
F= 90-99
Second character is year of decade, in this case we have a "C" then 5, so C= 60-69 and 5 means its a 1965 casting.
Third character you have car line, there are many, in this case there is an "A" which stands for ford, if it were a "T" then it was intended for a truck line, otherwise any other number means it came out in some form of a car.
Fourth character, the "E" means engineering group, there could be an "A" in this spot which would mean chassis group or "B" which would mean body group, but if your looking at a block then you know its gonna be "E".
6015 just means cylinder block
The last letter "A" could be substituted with almost anything, "A" means first revision a "B" second and so on, doesn't really matter unless your looking at something rare.
Then you will have a date code next to the casting number and example:
5A26
5 is the year A is the month and the last two are the day. "A" january, "B" feburary and so on. It would mean your 1965 block was made january 26 of that year.
Hope you understand my ramblings, I tired to find you a link instead of trying to type it out myself but was unable to find one. Keep in mind other components like intake or exhaust manifolds and stock carbs, etc, should have like casting numbers or similar, if your looking for originality. Later
