highboy measurments

hi can someone with a highboy measure from the frame down to the center of the front leaf spring? i just bought a custom set of leaf springs and want to know exactly how much lift they are. there supposed to be 8" but they seem like more. i know they'll settle down but i'd still like to get a stock referance to use in the future. also i dont have bump stops on so you'll have to go to the frame thanks brandon

On my '74 highboy, original springs, original bushings etc. etc., measured from the bottom edge of the frame to the top of the top leaf (not the u-bolt pad), dead center, 4.25 inches on the passenger side. The motor is a 360 FE, tranny an NP 435. It has the heavy-duty 3550 GAWR Dana 6CF (44HD) front axle.

I have no idea if this is how it should be or if the truck has shrunk because of spring settling, bushing wear, etc. over the past 30 years. Stock bumper, no winch, though it carried the spare on the front for most of its life. The truck looks right, sits tall, but when you take into account the bump stops I've only got about 2" of suspension travel up front. This could explain why it rides like a tractor.

I'm planning my frame off for later this year, anybody out there think I should look into getting the springs re-arched? If so, where would I get the dimensions?
