Heh, yeah for a grand I'd send in an anonymous tip. Especially with college coming up... that goes a long ways towards tuition, housing, all that stuff.

Sorry to break it to ya, but no it doesn't
You might buy your books for that, and just have a little left over for a night on the town
Result of last night's and today's events: None of them will walk, they are expelled for the rest of the year, but they will be allowed to make up their work and exams at home, and I heard their parents are going to hold a private graduation for them (absolutely rediculous!). The principal also stated that if they are spotted on campus again between now and June 2nd, they will be arrested again for trespassing.
I think that punishment was a little over the top for what happened. Sure, they could have been planning something worse, but they weren't. The police officer's did their job, which they are in every right to do. and it's good they did. It's no question what the kids did was wrong, I'm not arguing with that. I simply think that the punishment was a little harsh for what happened. Having to hold a private graduation, warnings of being arrested if they "trespass" before June 2nd, etc just seems a bit much for me.
Have my group of friends done stupid pranks? Yes.. we did. They were harmless and some we even cleaned up or put back after having a good laugh. We weren't the violent / destructive type.. just the occasional prank. We still have a good laugh about them years later now and then! I guess times have changed
For our senior prank all we did was got a bunch of "for sale" signs and put them in the front lawn and changed the marquee to read "free (badword) today"

Hehe, ya, sorry dude, but $1000 doesn't go far at my college, thats about a 3rd of what I pay per semester, It's unfortionate really. Hope we didn't burst your bubble.

Yeah, we did this to the lunch lady, hehe We put about 30 in her yard (about .5 acre ). Of course she was old, so me and my partner in crime went over the next morning and helped her clean them up, even she got a kick out of it, and nobody was hurt, and nothing was damaged.

I got out of grad school last May. If you're paying in state tuition at a state school in Tx (A&M in my case) the total bill if you live off campus comes out to under 3,000/semester. Assuming you're a grad student taking a full load of 9 hours. Books? Share with friends, buy online, and get the old edition if you can. Books ran me under 200/semester without Xeroxing/sharing with anybody. There's lots of ways to cut costs if you get creative! I was making 950/month before taxes so yeah 1,000 would've been a nice bonus there.
> so it's another burden costing school districts money that shouldn't have to be spent
Yea, I have to agree with this the most. Especially if you take $1,000-$5,000 and multiple it by 3-4 schools. Leaving stinking fish in lockers only punishes the students following them. Soaping floors could seriously hurt someone that did not expect it. To me, a prank is putting a plastic cow on top of a building or something that can easily be undone, not something rude and in your face like stinking fish.
I think not walking, summer school, and paying for damages (police time wasted etc.) would be enough punishment for a stupid prank and would discourage others from doing pranks like it. To me, what they intended went over the line from a prank to a crime, especially with the B&E. Hopefully, they know where the line is now.
Two middle school boys are accused of planning a large-scale killing at their school in Winder.
"They were planning on a Columbine-style killing," said Winder police Lt. Kristi Schmitt.
The two students -- who were not identified -- were arrested Friday after police investigated a tip from fellow students.
The two are being held in Gainesville while they await a Thursday hearing. They've been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, making terroristic threats and disruption of a public school.
Police did not release details of the alleged plot, although they did recover weapons from the boys' homes.
Schmitt said the boys planned on "killing anyone in their path" during an attack they had planned for this Friday. A letter was sent home to parents, and Superintendent Ron Saunders said the boys would not be allowed to return to Russell Middle School.
Things like this is why authorities take a dim view of certain types of pranks.
