Last night 15 seniors broke into the high school I go to (I'm a senior too this year, just smarter than these) intending to pull the Senior class prank. Well just as soon as they got in the door, they heard a 'click-click' and see a cop at the end of the hall waiting for them with his gun drawn. They all tried to run, but 14 of them got caught, and the last one got picked up this morning.
They had dish washing detergent to make the floors foam up and slick the floors and sardines and were planning to stink bomb lockers.
It all happened about 11:00 last night, just as I was coming home from my g/f's house.
They all got charged with Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering and Conspiracy to Deface and/or Destroy Public Property.
Knowing most of them pretty well, they will find a way to weasel their way out of the charges. That's what ticks me off. I hope they get the most punishment possible. I already know that they won't walk on graduation day and they were told not to come to school for the rest of the year.

Sounds like somebody ratted them out. But I got to disagree. I graduated in 2002 in a small town and everybody there, including the admin of the school prolly wold have laughed. Sounds like yall either have a really bad crime problem and you dont like those classmates. How did one cop catch 15 students? i'd a run my *** of.
I saw on the local news that the cops were stepping up security at the local high schools to prevent these "pranks". Most of the time its just stupid stuff that doesn't do any real harm, but with all the school shootings in the past few years, I don't think kids can get away with stuff like that anymore. What if instead of sardines and soap those kids had pipe bombs and gas cans? Things just aren't the way they used to be. Man I feel old saying that, and I'm not even 30 yet?!?!
Ive already got a teacher to help me out with my senior prank. Gonna get a old run down beetle, paint it in school colors with a mustang painted on the hood and then push it into the school and put her up on blocks.
I don't see why it's such a big deal. So what if they were trying to play a little prank, at least they're not out really hurting people. Sounds like they got plenty of punishment - getting expelled from the school and not graduating seems pretty harsh punishment.
I don't know if it's a senior prank or not, but some clown(s) are setting fires in some schools around here. 3 in the past 3 nights.
When these so-called pranks are causing damage, and a mess, like the soap and sardines, somebody has to clean it up, and it's not usually the perpetrator(s), so it's another burden costing school districts money that shouldn't have to be spent.
A few years ago some kids made a paper mache replica of male genitals that was about 6-7' tall and somehow managed to hoist it onto the top of the school. They got caught but I don't think they got into trouble. It was quite funny

****This is what I was told today by a friend, so it may not be exactly what happened, but this is best I can put together from the information I have!****
Somebody did tell a teacher about it on Friday, turns out the person who did was supposed to go with them last night, but got a cold suddenly, and stayed home. Crime is not an issue here.
It also wasn't one cop. The school had been expecting such an attempt last week, since it was senior spirit week, and the one cop in the building was ready for them, the school has been paying him to sit up there every night since last Wednesday, they knew something was coming because they discovered one door taped where the bolt wouldn't engage the door jamb, and that cop waited. Then there was a cop across the road in a bottom in his cruiser waiting with his eyes open and his ears on. There was a deputy sheriff K-9 unit on patrol nearby when the break in was reported. The cop in the building was in the dark, and he stayed there until the first student came in. Then 2 more came in and he waited for the door to shut, then he told them to freeze, and he radioed the cruiser, who in turn radioed the county dispatch and sent the deputy there with the dog. The cop inside kept the 3 there, and the deputy turned his Jeep's side lights on down in the woods, along with the help of the cop that was across the road, and they yelled for them to come out of the woods, none of them moved. Then the deputy yelled that he was going to turn the dog loose. All but one then came out of the woods, apparently they were moving towards the building one by one, or in pairs, to avoid detection and other attention getters, with the materials. That one got away last night.
He thought he was slick, but this morning, he began to brag on getting away, and he got called out of class to the office, where he was greeted by some badges with a warrant and he left in bracelets. The rest of them did not want to go down alone.
Result of last night's and today's events: None of them will walk, they are expelled for the rest of the year, but they will be allowed to make up their work and exams at home, and I heard their parents are going to hold a private graduation for them (absolutely rediculous!). The principal also stated that if they are spotted on campus again between now and June 2nd, they will be arrested again for trespassing.

I don't understand why the students wanted to waste their money on something so stupid as a prank anyway.
Well, one recent prank at my school involved students putting up a sign that said "There's a bomb in the school. 2000 lives are at steak [sic]. Your choice."
There wasn't any bomb, but the school was closed for a few hours. There's also a $1000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest or conviction.
How would you react? I mean, it's understandable what these police officers put up with. You don't know what's fake or not.
Pranks can be fun, so long as nobody/nothing gets hurt/broken, and frankly, anytime that we played pranks back then, we were ALWAYS the first one's to jump in and help with the clean up (frankly, this lead to more fun than the actual act in some cases).
Also, I resent the statement of "stupid cops ruin all the fun". Let's not be too stereotypical here. Most of us Cops, probably pull more pranks than the average joe, and, when we here of somebody else pulling a prank, that is a good one, and nobody gets hurt, we usually just put them in the car, take them to their house/car and let them go home. The only reason we do that is because usually the "prankee" is just mad for them moment and wants to see something done about it, but eventually laugh when they get over thier anger.

This came as I was typing my post.... This is a federal offence, there is no "good" intentions at all. This was stupid of them to do, and yes, they should be prosecuted, this is not a joking manner.
