The Din Mount Radios came in three versions...

AM only
AM/FM
AM/FM/Stereo Compact Cassette.

It's possible that it was switched out by someone, or the local Ford Dealer, as an option extra or a radio downgrade, and used parts in stock.

Now that I think about it, someone made a mount apparently out of the old radio, side mount. I would say that info would be right after all.

the easiest way to do install a din reciever into these trucks is to buy the deck you want,remove the retaining cage from the cd player,center it up on the bezel,mark it with a marker on the INSIDE of the cage,cut it out,then you can sandwich the reciever with the bezel,had mine like that for years and have some pics of it,looks really clean
