Oil in Intake.

Well I just finished putting the triple gauge a-pilliar in my 04. I used Auto Meter Ultra Lite and they look great. I also supported my favorite website and bought the a-pilliar from Motorhaven. Few words of advice, get the electrical trans temp gauge and not mech, and take your time. Also does anyone know why there was oil in the intake. I had to remove the aluminum elbow and tap into it for the boost gauge. When I took it off there was oil coating the inside. Never noticed this before on any other Diesel, but I also look closer at this truck, then I do others that I have worked on. Any info would be great.

Max Boost 26 PSI
EGT 700 @70 MPH
Trans Temp 140 all the time

I don't know about the 6.0, but on the 7.3 there is a breather element that vents into the intake and a little oil residue is considered normal.

After doing some research, yes, the breather element does vent into the air intake. A little oil residue is normal. Some guys have bypassed this vent outside of the air intake, but that might be a challenge in the 6.0 considering how tightly the engine compartment is packed.

Normal oil .. Make sure you clean it out DRY before re-attaching the hose and clamp... They sometimes like to POP OFF on their own.. They don't need any lube between the clamping surfaces...
