Ford To Recall Trucks Made With Incorrect Tires
11 May 2004
Robert Lane
Ford Motor Company told its dealers to stop selling or demonstrating certain 2004 model year Super Duty F250 and F350 models because they may have been factory equipped with the wrong type of tires.
The models include both the King Ranch and Lariat models equipped with Goodyear Wrangler AT/S LT275-65R-18 size tires. The Super Duty F-Series trucks were made at the Kentucky Truck plant from 15 January 2004 through 04 May 2004.
The factory installed Goodyear tires have the incorrect load range and do not meet Ford's own specifications. According to Ford, "If a tire is operated in an over-loaded or over-inflated condition, the tire may rupture resulting in a rapid air loss." If the tires do not have a load range of "E", they must be replaced.
Your Ford dealer will inspect all five tires (including the spare) and make certain the load range is E. If any tire on the vehicle has a load range other than "E", it must be replaced.
Ford Claims Information: 1-800-423-8851
Ford Tire Hotline: 1-888-353-3251
