Just thought I would introduce myself here, I found this site through a referel on a Maverick/Comet message board I post on for my project car.
Anyway currently drive a 1985 Ford E-150 Club Wagon XLT. It has it's problems but for the most part it's been a reliable workhorse and a valuable member of our family, we've had it since 1994, bought it mainly for my brother who is disabled (it has a liftgate and sunken floor), currently has over 101,000 miles.

Vehicle Specs:

Engine: - V8 5.0L 302ci (underpowered really needs a 351W)
Transmission - Automatic AOD
Long wheel base model, has power everything even though the drivers window don't roll down and the A/C works when it wants to
does have rear A/C.

302 or 351

Hi Mav

Welcome to the site. Many good tech articles and advise here.
I have a 351, and it feels ok, but nothing to write home about. I've heard there are alot of add ons for the 302. I'm feeling the need for speed myself, must be late spring fever. I just saw the price of gas down the street at $1.83..somthing to think about.
Anyway...take a look around. There's a forum for engines too. Might find some info there.

Yea the 302 is a good motor, ours has been great for the most part nothin more then usual maintanence issues as with any engine. It does have some leaks though that need attention soon but since the vehicle is the only daily driver that makes it difficult. I'm guessing the rear end on the Van could be one reason why it lacks power it's the stock one never been changed out to my knowledge, that and the fact the thing is so heavy. I'm not lookin to turn it into a race van or anything , I just wish I could muster some more power out of it so that I could pass people on the freeway without having to practically redline the engine.
