I've read some articles on converting 70's-80's vans to 4wd using a dana 60.
is there anything printed about using TTB axles (searched this forum for 4x4, found nothing). I know alot of people don't like the split axle, but I've never broken one.
I've looked into doing a swap to TTB 4WD abuut 2 years ago.
I ended up purchasing a 4X4 van, thus never needing to do my own.
The major roadblock was the fact that the front axle crossmember is abuut one inch shorter in width from front to back.
With some extra fab work, it can be done.
Since the van is wider than a truck, the axle beams should be postioned to match the old track width of the van.
This will necessitate having a longer axleshaft made up for the pass. side axle.
There is two companies that do TTB conversion.
Clydesdale 4WD in Canada, they do Dana 44 5 lug conversions for 150 models.
There is another company that does Dana 50 8 lug conversions for 250-350 models.
