Have a question, I have a 95 E-250 clubwagon 15 pass van. The front A/C works fine but when I turn the fan switch on for the rear A/C the rear floor heat comes on, my guess is that it is not switching over to the rear a/c from the floor heat. Is there a manual bypass for this or something else???
Hey club van! and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are low or out of refrigerant. You'll have to crawl under and check for a leak. There will be some noticable oil at or near the leak. I would have it checked, if you feel you really need the A/C. I'm not sure if you actually haul around 15 people in the van, but if you do, I'd fix it! It's 14 against 1!!
There isn't a manual bypass, since it operates separate from the front system. It may use part of the same system, compressor, condenser, filter, but uses it's own switch and has it's own evaporator. If you can remove the grill on the interior of the van and turn on the switch, If it's low on refrigerant, it will probably ice up. Keep the front A/C switch in the off position while doing this. The compressor will try to operate normally. It will overheat if there's little or no ref. in the system, so listen carefully. You don't want to harm the comp..
If all else fails, have it checked by a tech. Get back to us and let us know the results. Thanks and we'll talk with you later....
