I'm driving down to the Syracuse Nationals this Thursday and would like to check out the vendors for Show specials.
What are your opinions on the Best A/C?
Old Air? Vintage Air? Hot Rod Air has been given two thumbs up by some club members.
I bought the Vintage Air, can't say its the best becuase I've never used the others, but I was completely satisfied with the product
yeah, I thought Vintage Air was the Gold Standard. A couple of buddies from my local Club, - Sourthern Ontario Classic Pickups - said that Hot Rod Air was started up by someone who worked for V. A. and took their best ideas and improved on them, mostly with respect to ease of servicability...like you can drop out the blower motor without removing the entire evaporator body inside the cab...
I don't really know enuff to know , so that's why I'm askin'...
to get edumicated.
Question I have for all of you is does the units really get cold? Here in HELL PASO, TX, we are experiencing three digit degrees and low 90's at night....if the truck cannot be cooled to 70-80 degrees then its not worth it for me....does anybody have any suggestions....(yes i know i could modify a 2001-2003 F150 system to fit the truck but cost is way out there!!!!)

Wow, I was thinking I might visit down your way without the air...maybe not!
the vintage air in mine will cool it down to 70-80 on a 100 day, takes a while because mine is a panel truck(read large oven) sure it would do better in a small cab pickup...I run r12 not the 134 refregirant..but just the effect of cool air blowing on you helps 100%
I can only speak for myself and my F-1. But here in Phoenix I have yet to use high on my fan. I got to work at 7 am and its comfortable on low. Will freeze my knee cap when wearing shorts! The past couple of days its been 110 plus and I only use medium. As for the temp in the cab, my duct temp is 37-40 degrees.

So what system are you using then.....cause in HELL PASO - its blazing...so hot you can cook an egg on the hood and still have room to make pancakes....anybody hungry now????
Tbucket,
I have a '50 f-1 I am putting a Hot Rod air unit with heat and defrost in.
What size is your condenser? Mine is about half as big as the radiator. I am not sure if it is big enough.
