Hi and welcome to FTE,
your trucks computer will generally show a check engine light when a sensor fails, use the seach feature to look up info on o2 sensor's.if a check light does come on, go to autozone and they give you the codes for free, write them down and post them down and ask here or use the search.

if your engine is not throwing any o2 related codes, dont touch the 02 sensors. Just keep driving. Generally, drive sensors until they fail. But obvious exceptions such as the maf which needs regular cleaning.
thanks for the info. I drive in the desert...lots of fine dust. The engine started knocking about 5 months ago. It only happened when I accelerated. The engine light came on. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was the O2 sensor. He cleaned it and it ran fine. Last week it started knocking again. I thought it may be the start of an O2 problem..again.
