[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jul-02 AT 01:33 AM (EST)]I will be needing a O2 sensor for my '98 F150....................I know it goes on the catillac converter I have the codes for the sensor but where on the converter does it go on??? I can't seem to find the old sensor to replace it.
You have at least 3 maybe 4 02 sensors on that truck, which one needs replacing? 2 are close to the engine manifolds, one on each side. The other one or two are after the converter or converters.
My truck has 4. 3 are fairly easy to get to but the one on the passenger side just south of the exhaust manifold is tough to get to. Before you replace any of them - pull the O2 sensors and wash them in gas and see if that eliminates your code. It worked for me.
Hey Mad. Let us know the code you have, and we might be able to tell you what sensor to change. Bank 1 is the drivers side. Bank 2 is the passangers side. sensor 1 is near the manifold, sensor two is near the converter, both sides. Good luck
Guys remember this simple rule for O2 sensor banks. Bank one is ALWAYS on the same side as number one cylinder. This holds true for all makes and models. That puts Ford on the right bank or passenger side for rearwheel drive engines.

Hey Dave,
The Code on the sensor is 8-44F

Pull out all of the o2 sensors and clean them with "electrical motor cleaner". Buy it at a auto store. This will remove the EXHAUST powder from the sensor.
I have a 98 F250, (with a F150 body style) 5.4 V8 4X4.
All of a sudden the milage quit recording. The speedometer shows how fast I am going. All other guages work as does all else.
The only thing I've done recently is add a K & N fuel injection air cleaner system.
Any ideas on what happened. Or how to fis it?

Does anyone know if you can remove the catalytic converters on an F-150 without problems? Someone told me that you can't because the oxygen sensors. He said it wouldn't run without them, but another guy said there's a way you can do it. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

I want to remove the cats so it will be louder and have a little more horsepower. There are no emissions test or inspections here so I don't have to worry about that.
