When I drive a tone of about 1000 Hz is coming out of the front of my car and it is really loud. It starts and stops slowly while driving only. It is not coming from the engine or gearbox and the tone height is always the same regardless the speed I drive, this is strange.
Also when I tough the brakes or engage the 4x4 thus not make a change.
Can this be from some other gearbox or shaft bearing?
I know it's hard, but a better description of the sound might help. Does the sound vary with engine speed, even though it doesn't vary with vehicle speed?
Only thought I've got so far is fan clutch. Engine off, can you spin the fan by hand?
