78 F250 4x4 Problem im having is my steering is real choppy hard to turn and nothing smooth about it and it makes a speratic sound coming from the pump like it kicks in and out. question is, is this normal for a pump when it goes out or would it would be the gearbox that would be bad and the pump just working harder, is there any way of telling which is bad.
There's a screen at the back of the pump, at the base of the high pressure
hose. Mine was so stinkin clogged up with chipped off "vane" material I don't
know how it even worked. But it -was- acting funny, like cutting in and out.
{shrug}
Took mine apart, cleaned it up, put it back together and never could get the
sucker to seal. :) Got one at Auto Zone and it's still in there. LOL :)
Someday I'll get it off the shelf and figure out how to get it to seal even if I
have buy a new ~5 inch diameter o-ring. ;)
thanks for the info on that ill have to check that out im hoping its something simple or the pump its self its only about 40$ at the parts store rather than the gear box being 250
