Duel Pipes

I was wondering why I don't see any PSD with duel pipes out the rear. I like the look. Is it difficult to just come off the existing muffler outlet and have it dueled out? Would the tips change the sound of the truck? Like I said ,I like the look but would not like to change the sound of the truck.

There are some companies that offer duals for a diesel. the main reason i could think of a lack of duals is a turbo diesel has both exhaust manifolds join up to the turbo, then exit the turbo on the passenger side and go back. A gas truck has the manifolds just go back.

The only duals I'll do is up in the bed, in the 5" variety!!
I think you don't see many is 'cause it's just for looks - no performace gain over a single pipe. Now if you gained 30hp with duals - they's be selling kits like hotcakes!!

What, no performance gains with two stacks, the last one we ordered picked up close to 300 hp. All though it was a Euclid scraper with two engines, front and rear.
There really is no power gains, like cat man says, it is for apperance and sound. Most of our semi tractors have duels, but they get that look with a Y pipe under the cab!

Yes it would be for looks only but I have not seen any and was just curious as to why. I think it might look pretty good though. Thanks for the tips...

A single 4" exhaust is good for up to 450 HP, so the dual setup really isn't necessary. Also, as 04superduty pointed out, both exhaust manifolds exit into the turbo. Making a true dual setup for a PSD would result in a lot of money and would probably mean adding a second turbo.

Many people buy these trucks for pulling trailers. You wouldn't want rear-exit pipes with a trailer.

Exactly. Duals out the rear are a bad idea for a diesel if you ever tow.

If you decide to do duals out the rear, make sure you don't leave them too far out. My girlfriend put her knee against the stainless tip trying to reach something in the bed and she got branded " Ford Tough". I spared her the aggravation when I got the 04 PSD and left the exhaust on the side. She won't have to scrub the black off the toy hauler either.
