Which engine do you have? Gas or Diesel? If it's a diesel, going with dual pipes won't really serve any purpose other than looks. You'd be better off going with a single diameter pipe. As for the sound of a diesel, it does sound strange to the untrained ear if you have a muffler that doens't muffle a lot of the sound. I have 5" exhaust and a 3.5" downpipe on my PSD X and you hear a lot of the turbo fluttering.
On a gas engine, it will depend what you get for mufflers and what you use for exhaust tips (if you want it to make the rapping sound, etc).
I went with duals on my v10 gas. They put a small pipe off the converter then one Flowmaster 40 muffler and then a y pipe for 2 pipes out behind the rear tires. I had them put the tips on an angle not straight out the rear. I've seen a few like that and I personally don't think it looks good. I think it sounds real good and not to load so I can hear the family talking. If I put 2 mufflers I think it would have been too load. It doesn't sounds as throaty as I've heard from pickups. They told me the reason is because the large cabin in the rear makes the sounds different. Not sure if thats true or not.
Hope that helps, let me know if you want a pic.
