I need trying to figure out what is wron with power steering on my 771/2 f250 4wd.
When truning left and right the steering goes from easy to hard to easy again. MY buddy thinks it the steering gear box. I'm wondering if you guy could help me on this.
I had the same thing happen on my Monte Carlo, the ball joints and most of the other bushings were too worn so the linkage was binding at certain points in the turn. I replaced them all and no more probs! Don't know if that'd translate into a f-series truck but just a thought.
It is always the steering shaft u-joint (the one at the bottom of the column). Of course it could be other things, but on a 4x4 this is where to start.
