I've seen the article for the brake upgrade for the bronco's.... is it the same for the F-150's?
I have a '78 F-150 and I'm doing the entire brake system... I bought an F-150booster/mastercylinder, but then I read that you can upgrade to F350 booster/mastercylinder on a Bronco...
I know this is a dumb question, but can we do this to the F150 as well? I dont see why not... but It doesnt hurt to ask!
I am currently doing this upgrade for my bronco. I had some questions about it too since the f-350 had different boosters available. I am not 100% sure but I would think the f-150 and bronco have the same braking system stock. But the f-350 booster you would want to upgrade to will be the thicker of the ones available (the dual diaphram one wich will make it twice as thick through), not the skinny one that resembles your stock booster. The parts are currently on order so I havent actually started wrenching yet. And I think the unit might be slightly smaller in diameter than your stock booster. I wish there was someone who has already completed this project that could help us out, but last I checked no one responded. But I am going for it. With the hours I work though, and all the spring cleaning around the house, its going to be a 1-2 month project probably.
I'm not sure... but I did install it, and everything bolted up perfectly.... including the brake pedal.... All I have to do now is re-route the lines....
I dont know what the FT# is.... its the Cardone pn 5473311 its the one W/O the master cylinder attached....
the diameter is in fact smaller, but its also considerably thicker. It doesnt get in the way of anything, So i dont mind.
Dont forget to buy the corresponding f-350 master cylinder. I'll check my part numbers as soon as I get to advance.... they got it in I just got to go over and pick it up. Then I got to buy the line converison stuff and the calipers and new rotors (one of my rotors is chewed up really bad). I dont know if I am gonna have the money to do the rear disk conversion yet though. I was hit pretty hard with taxes this year... was on unemployment all last year and had no taxes taken out so I ended up owing a couple times more than what an entire brake conversion costs
Guys, I have a 76 F150 4x4 that I would like to upgrade the brakes on. Does anyone know if the 76 F350 booster and master cylinder will work for this swap or do I need to get the 78 / 79 booster and cylinder? Thanks.
