My parents bought me one 2 years ago for a wedding gift. They wanted us to have pictures on our honeymoon so that's the main reason why they bought it.
I use one to document everything in a house, it is great to use for insurances purposes.
You can do drawers closets, everything……burn a CD and keep it in a safe deposit box.

I have one, but it is not a very good one. My mom brought it from my aunt and gave it to me for Christmas 2 years ago. It will only operate with regular AA batteries (no rechargable ones ) and it goes through those after maybe 30 or 40 pictures. And that is without ever using the screen. What is the purpose of having a digital camera with a LCD screen if you can't even use it because it will drain the batteries too quickly? It is only a 1.2MB from Hewlett Packard so it doesn't even make very good pictures. I have a few that are awesome, but most are not that great of pics.
I've had one for four years now and I love it. Film? I haven't used the stuff for so long I've forgot what it's like. Isn't that the stuff where you take it in and have to WAIT (ugh) to get your pictures back? LOL. With digital, pics are instant and free, once you absorb the cost of the camera.
Yes I have two, the first one being a Sony Mavica, that I bought about four years ago. It's great to just slip a floppy disk into the camera and shoot away, then go back and look at them on your computer.
About a year ago, my older brother who's a photography buff, gave me a Minolta Dimage 7. Now that's a nice camera. I'm still finding out new things that camera can do.
