A fat wallet, a lot of work and the prepartion of being dissapointed when you are done. If you need more power, as opposed to just wanting to "add a turbo", do yourself a favor and trade it for a Power Stroke.
You can check out my page on my install of my Banks system. I have a 91 7.3 IDI. Boy does it make a difference in the power. I can lay rubber with a Dually. Not smoke rolling off of them, but you can see the 4 lines on the pavement. Fuel mileage??? I have not been able to get my foot out of it yet, the shop that sold me the kit said it would take 6 months to see fuel mileage increase. He said it takes that long until you learn to drive the way you used to... NORMAL... I think he is right... I can now pull my boat with no problems. I can accelerate up hills with the boat, when I used to only be able to hold speed.
You have to relieve the firewall, as the down pipe and turbo inlet pipes need the clearance.
As for being dissapointed... No way... This thing will set you back into the seat, it's the best money that I have spent on the truck. I should have done it years ago. You will happy with a turbo. Just make sure that you install a pyro to keep track of the temps, so that you don't melt down. The engine will keep pulling strong, but the temps say "Take your foot out of the pump, and slow down or I Will" Banks and ATS told me 1050 Degrees is a "Safe MAX" on temps. I have seen as high as 1000, I don't know how fast I was going because... the speedo does not read that high...
