Hey fellas,
Im lookin for a winch for my 95 f150 xl and i was wondering if anyone knew if a new warn 8000i would work out ok. If anyone had some experience with one on a similar truck i would appreciate a comment. Since the curb weight of the truck was only 3900 pounds i thought that a 8000 would be enough but would like to know if it wasnt. Thanks
I'd suggest buying the biggest winch money will allow you. I plan on running a Warn 9500 (the new one) on my pickup when its all said and done, and right now my pickup weights 3885lbs. (just weighed it). when your stuck your usually bogged down in the mud and that extra pull comes in handy.
If you go with the 8000 get a ****** block kit, it allows you to pull double the rated capacity of your winch.
might look into the mile er 12000lb winch. about the same cost (if not less) and more than you should need. trust me, when your stuck you want all you can get.
1.5 times your rigs weight is the rule of thumb for pcking winches, but go for the biggest winch you can afford sine your rig is destined to get heavier with bigger bumpers and beefier parts...i would go for a MM 12k at the 600 bucks right now....or of ya rolling in the dough get the new warn 15k
Any of the Warn or MileMarker 8000 pound winches or bigger winches will serve you well. speaking from experience do not skimp on a winch....my $300 winch SUCKS! I regret it but it was a gift from my dad!
I just got my Warn 16.5ti a couple of days ago, and Ive already used it twice. It drug my front end out of a mud pit; sideways (don't ask, it was a sticky situation, literally!). I was in it good and deep, and the winch never even flinched.
