when i sit at idle for a long period of time say in the high school parking lot waiting for the busses to get out of the way or at a train crossing. my temp will climb and climb when i start moving again or shut 'er down then it will fall. do i just need to get a bigger fan OR try water wetter or somthing? any ideas.
does it have a fan shroud on it, if not id be finding one, because that will surely cause it to overheat, if it does have a shroud, an electric fan may do the trick, or one of them flex-a-lite fans with a think 6 or 7 blades may help, hopefully its not something internally wrong, good luck
this enigine was assembled from parts from a 360 and 390 its not really stock but im not sure whats up inside runs awsome pulls unbeilvble for a gasser. it dosen't have a fan shroud though, did they have those stock?
yes most of them had them stock, and they do help a lot, someone to the one off my 75 with a 390 and it was always overheating when it wasnt moveing, so i went to the junkyard and found one and hadnt had trouble sense.
You have the same problem I had. Your engine sets too far away from the radiator to not have a shroud. I went with an electric that had its own shroud and now it has no problems at idle.
