I was just wondering what is causing my truck to shake real bad, and it knocks. ALso when you start it up, it stalls then it cranks up. This started happening after my friend pushed the pedal and the truck was at 5000 rpms. It was in park when she did this. Please reply if you know what would be wrong with it. Thanks!!
5000 rpm? The pcm should be limiting the rpm. The redline is 3300 rpm. If it IS shaking and knocking, I would suspect internal damage if you did in fact exceed the redline.
What kind of friends have you got?
If the engine did indeed go to 5000 RPM then you've got 2 problems. The first one, as stated in the previous post is the rev-limiter in the ECM is not working properly and the other is probably a bent push rod and/or a broken rocker arm fulcrum causing one or more (depending how many bent push rods you have) cylinders not firing. If your truck is box-stock from the factory, Ford should repair it at their expense because they programed the ECM and if the "high idle" doesn't cut the electronic governor in at about 3650 RPM, then they didn't program it right.
Does our DP-Tuner F-5 raise the RPM limiter? Anyone know?
