I am fighting with my hood on my '50 F-1. When I hook up the hinges, the hood closes and fit pretty well. Matches the cowl OK. When I hook up the springs and close the hood, the back of the hood stays up about an inch. I can go to the back of the hood and push down on it and it goes down into place fairly well. I have tried two different sets of springs with no difference between them. Anybody had this problem? How did you solve the problem
that's a common problem with these old trucks, you could buy new or have yours rewound, but if your like most of us that are so used to going to each side of the truck and pushing down you'd just be wasting your money, cuss you'd just walk around to push anyway. fever
I soved this problem on my 46 Ford coupe by removing the springs and installing a "hood holder" rod. Of course it is a street rod, so I was not concerned with originality.

I can recall reading a tech article or something a while back about resolving hood trouble. I can't seem to find it but I'll keep looking. The guy seemed to know what he was doing. He would bend the hinges one way or another to fix various problems. I did find this thread . I'm not sure those guys know what they're doing but its captivating reading nonetheless. Maybe some silly gel on the hinges would help.
