I have 76 F-100. I got it and there is no wires going to the cigarette lighter. Can someone tell me where the wires come from. There's a green wire coming from a bundle going across throug the dash just hanging there, is this it because is doen't go to anything and everythign else works
I'm not sure about 76, but 77-79 the lighter wire was green and had a stripe on it. I can't remeber what color. It came from the fuse box. If you have a volt meter check it. It should have 12v on it at all times. They were doubled fused. A 20 amp fuse for aux. equipment, cruise, etc. then a 15 amp fuse for lighter and other interior lighting loads. Check owners man.

I'd check the owners manual if i had one, and if find the wire, how do I wire it?
I have never looked at one very close, but the center pin is the hot wire, and the outside circumference is ground. It may ground automatically to the dash if it's metal, or it may have a seperate short piece of wire that bolts to a good ground.
Look right in the middle of this illustrations and you will see a 90*angle connector, that is for the lighter.
6th set of text down from the top where it says {retainer assembly}.
i'll check the volatge and if it's 12 i'll wire it in because the dash is metal. If it doesn't work I'll just leave it as is for right now because i don't really need it. Thanx for the help.
