Ok guys i am buying a spotless cab that is rust free for 200.00 off of my neibor. He dont know what year the truck was that it came off of. The side of the cowel says F150 i think it said custom but im not positive. I dont know if it was off of a 2 or 4wheel drive and I dont know if it was a standard or automatic truck either. I also dont know what year it is from. I know it has to be off of a 73-79. Will the cabs interchange? I am putting it on a 1978 F250 custom. I will be using my wireing harnis out of my old cab and i am using everything and i mean EVERYTHIGN out of my cab and putting into the other cab. Do you think that this will all work and the cab will fit with no problems?
thanks,
jimmy
Yes, if it has the badge on the cowl, then everything will transfer without a problem. If it didn't have the badge on the cowl, then it could have been a '73-'74 cab. Though still the same basic cab, minor things, like seat belts, would be hard to transfer.
yes it got the badge on the cowel. Tonight i am going to buy the cab off of my neibor and start tearing mine apart to put the new one on it. I will have to install windshield in ti and everything. Any tips on how to tear my cab apart and how to put the new cab together? Also i wonder what all needs doen for the clutch linkage whats holds it in?
thanks,
Jimmy
Go to the store and get a box of baggies. As you take something apart, put the hardware in a baggie and mark it. If you haven't done this before, taking pictures of parts before you take them off might help. I would start with taking the new cab apart first, take off the parts you will need to transfer from the old cab, then take off the parts from the original cab and transfer them. I don't quite understand the clutch question, you need to transfer it??? The whole clutch assy is bolted in under the dash, it will unbolt and transfer as one unit. I'm not sure if a cab with an auto will have all the studs in there to transfer it, but, atleast the holes should be there to use bolts to install it. Good luck.
