this isn't something that is very hard. when we took mine out, we soaked the thing with wd-40 the previous day and let it soak. taking the window out was easy. just go in the cab with a bunch of flat head screw drivers, start at one end, stuff the screwdrivers under the rubber around the one side, and start prying the rubber. eventually, after you pry the one side, you can just have another person on the outside to help pull/catch the window when it comes out. if your replacing the rubber molding, which you should do, just take a box cutter and slice the rubber molding on the inside of the cab so there is nothing keeping it from being pushed out. give it some gentle pushes, have someone on the outside to catch and your good to go. putting the window in is easy enough too. wrap a rope around the seal so that the rope sits in the seal where the frame is going to og. have a person push the window up against the outside of the cab, get in the cab and pull the rope out from around the molding. this will pull the lip of the seal over the channel for the glass. just make sure you use alot of lube to make your life really easy. silicone lube is really nice for this. its nothing hard, just kind of hard to explain without seeing it done. just make sure you don't rush or you'll end up having to buy a new window
I need to replace all of the rubber parts (seals, bushings, etc) on my new truck. The rubber seal around the rear window has pulled away from one corner (could the window just be too small, it's a slider, not original?).
Isn't there glue or silicone or something that you need to use to seal the rubber seal to the frame? What holds the glass in?
I need to do the same thing for my windshield. It looks like it has a relatively new seal around it but after the rainstorm the other day I noticed that there was water under the seal at one corner (trying to track down where water is entering the cab and rusting the floor out).
Anyone have experience with those complete weatherstrip kits that they sell at JC Whitney? I need to replace everything so maybe a kit would be the best thing.
