I apologize if this has been addressed before, but I can't seem to find an answer that fits my situation exactly.
I have a 97 PSD. Once it warms up, it has a problem at idle. It usually occurs right when the clutch is depressed. The engine shakes so bad, i feel like it's going to throw me from the truck. It lasts for about 5 seconds and then equals out. If I give it gas, it stops. Any ideas? Also, it has 87,000 miles on it and is under warranty until September. Would this problem be covered under warranty?
How is the oil level? How old is the oil? Could also be an injector going out. You should have it scanned for codes first. Is there any rattling noise? If so, have the dealer or a competent tranny shop check the dual mass flywheel. If you idle it with your foot off the clutch and it rattles it's the DMFW. I just had the LUK single mass clutch upgrade done to my company truck(97 PSD) which had the same symptoms you describe.
>My 95 PSD has the same problem. How much does a Duel Mass
>Flywheel cost? Can I install it myself?
I don't think you want to put another DMFW back in it, you'll just end up with the same problem later plus they are around $900 from what I've heard. Instead put in a LUK upgraded clutch with single mass flywheel in it. They hold more power and have a lighter pedal effort.
