I have a 96 Explorer and I have a check engine light on with a P0471 (I think), it is a exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient error code. I changed the EGR valve and within 2 miles of driving it, the check engine light was back on. Does anybody know what the next part is that I can change to get this light to go out?
Did you get a scanner out (or pull the ECM fuse in the underhood relay box for 20 min) and clear the code?
Or did you guess at the code and think EGR valve only? IIRC, that code *could* also mean to check out that DPFE sensor that is known to clog itself up....and flash EGR codes.
I borrowed a OBD2 reader and got the code and then cleared it. It was a code for the EGR valve flow insufficient, so I changed the EGR valve. I was wondering what the next part is to change after the EGR valve.
Well my light came on with that exact code and it turned out to be my Sensor not the valve the sensor was about 89.00 and labor was 66.00. I hope this helps.
P.S. Look at my post on "EGR help!" I believe it will be rite under this one !!
