>If I was a professional car/truck theif I would have a wheel lift on >the back of truck and within a minute I would be gone with the >vehicle without starting anything.

That would be a tough one to prevent.

I misread your post, I was thinking of the neutral safety switch.
Wolfmanagh is right you don't have to put your foot on the brake to release the gear shift lever. Probably work tho if the theif doesn't know that just turning the key part way will able the gear lever to be pulled from park.

Thanks for clearing that up I was starting to get a little cunfused.
Its not hard most of the time for to get confused. Sometimes I may read something 4 to 5 times and it still don't make sense to me. I'll slap myself on the head till it makes sense.

Gentlemen:

I disagree. I DO have to put my foot on the brake to get the gear shift to move out of Park. If I do not, and when I pull the shifter towards me and down, (like I want to shift) it will not move.

Put my foot on the brake and the shift lever moves.

Steve

P.S. I think I am going to go with a fuel pump cut off switch instead. I just hope there is no damage to the engine/injectors when there is no fuel.

Do any of you guys live in a city dwelling? Because personally I cannot think of a single thuggy criminal who is going to have the nerve or the stupidity to try and steal an obnoxiously loud, cumbersome diesel truck in the middle of the night. You want to know what the best theft deterant system is? A 4in. straight exhaust system! Either that or booby trap the doors with trip wire and 12 gauge blanks. Works everytime!

Hi Nieco13.....

I have to laugh at your comment about who would steal a loud and obnoxious diesel in the middle of the night.

I do live in San Diego in a nicer neighborhood. I do wonder if I am waking up my neighors in the morning when I start up my truck when I leave for work. A surprising number of houses around me have bedrooms that face the street. Fortunately, my house has the bedrooms on the backside.

I was just thinking about some type of deterrent when I have the truck at a less than desirable spot like the stadium to watch a ballgame or something or at the movies. It would really chap my hide
if some yahoo made off with my truck.

Steve

I hear ya. I guess I just have been living in the city too long. All the car thieves here only steal cadillac escalades and low riders.
