I was just searching and found that some people have added additional reverese lights to their Expy. I tried doing this by hooking up the fog lights that I bought to the 7 pin trailer connector. I made sure to check the pins that were 'hot' when the Expy was in reverse, and made the proper connectios. Problem is that the lights are not working. Anyone have any suggestions or an easier way to hook up these lights.
Did your set up have a relay? I could be wrong but I don't think the trailer hookup has a backup light lead. I hooked up my backup lights by pulling off a taillight and seeing what color the backup light wire is. Then I spliced into it from under the bumper wire harness, ran a ground and power wire directly to the battery. This was a White Night kit, so all the relays and internal connections where already in the unit. Hope that helps, good luck.
I could be wrong, but I thought that the center round pin in a 7-pin flat trailer plug was the reverse lights. I had checked this plug with a multi meter with the expy in park and there was no power, when I put it into reverse there was a reading of about 13. I did not use a relay since I was using a set of fog lights that I had purchased a while ago and they did not come with them. If I need one what exactly do I need?
