Question A/C compressor cycling every 7 sec.?

99 f250SD 5.4 ,I put the new pressure switch on, so it is cycling on/off(24psi/45psi)now,it started to take the refill. but the compressor cycles on and off every 7 sec.I'm not sure where i'm suppose to run the jumper wire to on the compressor, and is that with a jumper wire straight from the battery? And on anther note I thought maybe there was enough refill in it, when it is running it is not very cold and there is no moisture dripping is there a filter or screen that could be blocked?

scraprat, your pressure readings look good for the lowside, when the a/c clutch cycles on/off fast like that it usualy means its still low on freon, if you have an a/c guages what is the hi side readings ? when its running and the clutch is cycling ,your hi side should be around 100+ and when the clutch is'nt running it may read around 150/180+,i dont think it should go above 200psi. good luck

It sounds to me like you are still low on refrigerant! I have never had to jump out anything to charge an A/C and I would be leary of doing that you could run liquid back to the compressor and WHAMMY NO A/C FOR YOU If your rig is a 99 than it has R134a correct? Any way the most simple way (not perfect but darn close) way to charge is to have a set of gauges for the high and low side and with the a/c set on max add gas into the low side untill you feel the filter drier getting cold about 1/2 way to 2/3s the way up and stop! you should than after running for 10 min or so have around 40 to 45 deg. air comming out of the vents as long as its not 110 deg. in the car! If this does not do it for you let me know and with the temps and press you are runnig and we can narrow it down
Take care

Solution: the clucth was going on the compressor, so it would not stay engaged. I guess atfer 195,000 miles it did it's job.
