In August I posted a problem with my transmission. The OD light began flashing and it started shifting really hard. I have since had it rebuilt twice by the dealership. I have no confidence in this transmission now and will be unloading the truck in the spring after fishing season. I use the truck to haul a 1000# camper to Cape Hatteras and surf fish. The rebuilds cost a lot of money because I made the mistake of trusting a ford dealership. I now disengage the OD when driving around town with the camper on. I don't know of any other changes to make to driving habits. I have heard that you should change the transmission fluid more often these days perhaps at 10K. :-X12 Dan, I had similar symptoms with my truck, after I rebuilt the freshly rebuilt transmission, symptoms prevailed. Did some research and changed the Manual Lever Position Sensor and Speed Sensor on the speedometer cable at a cost of $84 it cured the problem. Good Luck!!!Let me know how you fare!!!

 

just courious why they rebuilt it instead of putting in a ford reman exchange? the exchange is less expensive, better warrenty, more dependable. how much was your bill when it was all done? exchange and labor is usually under $2500.
