Cruise Control Problem

I have a '95 Ford F-150 and all I have to do to disengage the cruise control is to tap lightly on the brake pedal. On my '96 F-250 PSD, I have to give it so much pressure that I start slowing down and then the engine speeds up, before it will disengage. Is there some kind of sensitivity adjustment on this thing? Thank you.

Are you 100% sure your Brake lights are working on the 96?

Check the pressure switch on the brake master cylinder to see if it breaks the circuit when the brake is applied.

Thanks for the help, fellas. It was the brake light switch under the dash on the brake pedal. Fixed the cruise control as well as making it much easier to shift out of Park.
