I like the BFG All Terrain's. I have the 285/75's on my truck and they look sweet. They are kind of pricey, but most tires with a nice aggressive and deep tread pattern usually cost a bit more. The Bridgestone Dueler I believe it is called, is also a nice looking tire.

When you put the 285/75's on did it really cut into your power and mileage like it did mine. I was completly stock when I put them on but they cut my mileage 2-3 MPG and considerable power loss on accell, was yours the same way.? Now I've done my mods, thinking about going back to the 235/85's it came with. Got a lot more power now, thinking I'll have even more if I go back to the "less heavy, narrower stock tire"
Any thoughts.

Joe,
I didn't really notice any power differences, maybe just a little on start up. As for mileage, I don't think I lost any so far over several tanks so I am satisfied. I get anywhere between 16-18 hwy depending on how I drive and that is considerably better than what my Chevy was getting with the same size tires on it.

Mine is a 96 crewcab 4x4 5sp with 4:10 gears, best I ever got was 17 combined, before my mods after the 285's was usually 14. Havent checked it after the mods yet, I drove it pretty hard before and now it's like a different truck so I'm driving it even harder. I'll check it after the "re-newness" wears off.

ProComp make all terrian makes a pretty good tire for the price. The 285 tires are around 165.00 dollars. They have a 50,000 mile tread warrenty on them.

BFG AT-KO's as well 285/75-16 good all around i like em alot. i had the MT's on my bronco they were a little loud and didnt do well on packed snow, ice or wet pavement. they were great in deep snow and mud, but i only encounter that once a year hunting and bought chians for all for tires so the tread doesnt matter anymore.

I bought a cheaper set of Liberator Tires 285/75/16 for mine from Walmart for 89.00 each. There made by michelin. I have about 9K on them and there good as new. I also have them on a durango with 28K on them and they held up WAY better then the Dueller a/t's did. There D rated or E rated on the 285's I cant remember off hand but I put a load of pavers (over 2500lbs) in the back of the truck and they held up just fine. Pull my 24 foot trailer with them just fine. Pull my 26foot boat just fine. There not a very aggressive off highway tread but they have some bite to them plus there very quiet on the highway. Look at Walmart.com and they do have a 40K warranty on them. Im usually not big on no name tires but these have been good to me.

18" of lift looks real nice with 44" Ground Hawgs on a 95 Crewcab longbox........gotta put in 5.13 gears though or else 5th gear is unusable.

I run Cooper Discoverer 285/75 and really like them. My dad has been running them on a couple farm trucks for the past 5+ years and they have performed well. Good traction and still quiet running down the road. Coopers are a little cheaper in price than others. I had BFG AT KO's on my old truck and I loved those tires, but that was on an F-150. They are a great tire and wear well, but you also pay for it.

Another vote for BFG all terrains - I have 305/70-16's on my truck and I love 'em. They aren't cheap - but they are a great tire and should wear better than some.
Also check out Cooper tires like Farmboy said - they are good tires for a very good price IMO. I have 285/75 Cooper Discoverer STT's on my stock wheels that I run in the winter and I have no complaints with them for the price!
