dual front shocks?

I brought a 79 F100 a few weeks back that had dual shocks, and was told that they make for better cornering.
I also have a 75 and 76 F100's and the top mount will take dual shocks on both of them, so i'd say it must have been factory option to put they other shock in.

I still don't understand why you'd want to remove the dual shock mounts just because you're not using them. My f150 has the mount on one side and not the other. No idea what's up with that. But there are bigger fish to fry right now and the extra mount isn't going to cause any problems.
