My truck has dual front shocks on each wheel, and I was wondering just how common this option is. It seems like all the OE springs I find are for single shock only, and the lift kits I have looked at only come with two front shocks. Any thoughts?
Since I can't add a signature yet (the 25 post minimum seems a bit odd to me), I will tell everyone that my truck is an '82 F-150 SWB 4x4. Powertrain is: 351W, C6, NP208 T-Case, 9" Rear, unsure of front axle.
You will run across them from time to time. They had a "handling package" that included the dual front shocks and I believe some sway bars. You will usually find this option on a truck that has the "towing" or "camper" option also.
My 86 SWB has this as well, also have figured out as well, the single shock versions, were rated at 1600 LBS. Dual shock versions 2900 LBS its kinda like the snow plow option. Mine has Sway bars as well.
Got the dual shocks too, with swaybars on the '86. Only seen one other in the junkyard and robbed the front swaybar off of it since mine was missing when I got the truck. Seems they were a lot more common on the Broncos.
I have the dual shocks on Dad's truck. It came from the factory with some package, and also includes the sway bars front and rear. In addition, the truck has skid plates below the fuel tanks and tranny/t-case.
