looks like we are going to have several people installing new mirrors. I tried it myself on my 99 and had a hell of a time. Getting them out was easy, but trying to line the white clips and red rubber electric motor catch was not possible for me. I ended up breaking a couple of the white clips and had to call Muth to send me a couple of extra ones. They don't ship new clips with the mirrors. You have to use the ones from the old mirrors. I ended up taking it to an auto glass place and they installed them for $10 bucks. For those of you ordering new mirrors, you may want to ask Muth to send you a couple of extra clips just in case. They are pretty easy to break.
Hey I know what you mean about the white clips there npearman. I realized after doing exactly what you said on the first mirror that you want to pop those white clips off the mirror leaving them on the housing not the glass and then reinstalling. I broke a white clip too, did you get a replacement and if so from where? I have my driver side mirror on but it won't stay in one place since I broke one of the clips.
I called Muth and asked them if they would send me a couple. Since I bought the mirrors from them, they said they would send them to me. They will sell them to you if you didn't buy mirrors from them. They don't cost that much. You'll need one of your clips, or look at the one you broke before you call them because they have a couple different sizes and shapes for the expy. They will ask you to describe the one you need. I called Ford and they won't sell just the clips, you have to buy the whole mirror.....figures. http://www.muthco.com
Muth makes the signal mirrors for just about everyone including other mfgs. I don't know about the housing but they certainly make the glass and the guts...
Everyone is outsourcing these days... With sitiations the way they are large mfgrs can not afford to make things in house.. they can go to smaller businesses (hopefully in the u.s.) and get them made cheaper...
I'm confused. Aren't the mirrors made by Ford? Or does Muth make and service the mirrors?
Matt03Expy when I called about mine they wanted to know if they were original equipment or if I had installed them myself. They said that even though mine was out of warranty with ford that they would still warranty thier product.
They also make a cool ad on module that gives you more uses for the mirrors...
It allows you to use the signal mirror as a back up light, door a jar indicator, as a flash indicator for the security system and more... Pretty cool kit... Worth checking out their website!
So, if I read this correctly, Muth will sometimes warranty factory mirrors past the Ford warranty? If so, fantastic! I like their signal mirrors better than the EB ones.

This being a Sunday, I didn't figure anyone at Muth would be working today, so I sent them an email about my mirrors on my 98 EB...will wait and see what they say.
Replacing Muth Signal mirror glass on my 98 EB Expy
I received my new Muth signal mirror glass on Friday and installed them this afternoon - thanks to those who posted here, I had the confidence to tackle it. I pryed the mirror glass from its base using a very small nail-puller (pry-bar). Once removed, I disconnected the electrical connector and transferred the white pins (two solid shaft and two "split-shaft" and relocated them to the new mirror glass. - reconnected the electrical connector and then, using a pair of needle-nose pliers to squeeze the split-shaft together, I slipped the bottom split-shaft pin into its respective hole on the housing, then guided the solid shaft pins into their respective holes and finally the top split-shaft pin. Once all 4 pins were in their respective holes, I carefully/slowly pressed the center of the mirror glass against the housing base until the center pivot ball snapped securely into the base. I repeated for the other side. I checked the operation and both mirrors function as designed.
The only items I did not reinstall were the rubber dust-boots on each of the split-shaft pins. I couldn't figure out how to reseat the rubber lip into its respective groove on the housing's mirror base. It may impact operation down the road if very much grit/moisture/etc. finds its way into the pin hole. I guess I'll deal with that as it occurs. I just honestly couldn't figure out how to reseat the boot in the groove. If anyone has done it successfully, I'd appreciate your insight
