I had a creak noise from front suspension on my 2002 Explorer XLT at 56,000km (35,000 miles) when going over bumps. A new front stablizer kit (link, stud, nut, shaft) was installed by dealer under warranty. Now, almost 15,000km (9,400 miles) later, same creak noise has reappeared and dealer says problem is that new stablizer bushings are required (almost $200 CDN). I mentioned it should be covered under warranty of last service they did on front stablizer (20,000 km or 1 year), but they said that bushings on original stabilizer work were NOT replaced only lubed - hence warranty doesn't apply. They tell me that bushings are now cracked. I authorized the work but I asked for the old bushings.
Should I complain to get bushings covered under warranty of original stablizer work? Should the bushings have been replaced when they did original stabilizer work? I know that bushings can wear, but is it normal for stabilizer bushings to crack?
$200 canadian? Thats a steep price sounds like...those bushings I got aftermarket for my 02 Explorer I got two end links with bushings for 25 bucks for both sides and they will last longer than the factory pair. I'm sorry call them up and stop that work, it will be done cheaper and this is a known problem with these models so there shouldn't be any charge at all.
