I went to AutoZone today, and was surprised that they raised the price on the STP filter (loose lip's sink ship's, a spy amongst us?). Well some good new's for the diehard Motorcraft crowd, they now sell FL2016 Motorcraft's for $19.99. Opened both boxes, same identical filter, down to the patent pending#. Glad that controversy's over.
As far as differences in names...
I've worked at a few manufacturers and they ALL "rebrand" their products...
from bread to cars...
so it could be the EXACT same thing and have 20 different names...
these manufacturers are just selling their products to whomever will buy them, it may be different manufacturers in some cases, but it may not be the case in others !
I wrote some software for a company that made bread years ago and the SAME bread had upwards of 40 wrappers it could be put in...
store brands, generic brands, premium brands...
I know, had to handle that in the pricing structure -- TALK about a module !!!
the price table was larger than any other table we had with maybe different prices for each day for each brand for....
I was at my Autozone today to see about getting filters there. They don't stock any and none of any brand or kind are in their computor system for the ford 6.0. So how are you guys coming up with these filters from autozone
Auto zone dose carry the STP oil filter in there computer, but not in stock. Kragen has the fram oil filter in stock for about 20 bucks took it out of the box didn't like the looks of the filter. the wix brand comes shrinked wrapped and has the same part number on it as the ford filter. The fram filter wasn't wrapped and look differnd, might be good, but I can get the wix for 16 bucks.
AutoZone does carry the Motorcraft filter. I actually saw one on the shelf. I went later to OReilly's and got one and they said it was $23. I told them it was $20 at the Zone. They picked up the phone and called the Zone and they said it was $19.99. The next time I was in the Zone I checked it again.
As I have posted before regaurding Dieselmanns Website. The NAPA Filters number 3518 is not the 6.0 Filter. This, 3518, is a 7.3L Fuel Filter. The NAPA Filters 3599 have a o-ring matched xactly as the oem Motorcraft. I know so, I own a NAPA Auto Parts store and the information you posted is false regaurding the 7.3L also. It is not a "square cut" o-ring I have dozens in stock and sell 3-4 3518's per day and never see a problem.
I get mine at NAPA, less than $15 with Military discount and tax. Is identical to what came from factory. I will bet they are all WIX.
TasMan
Yes, i must agree, there is great possibility that all these filters are WIX. Wix manufactures for many companies. I have been to theyre factory in Gastonia, NC and they box theyre filters for Motorcraft, NAPA, themselves, even some for your cheaper brands.......................
Do not use any fuel additive containing alcohol or ones that would allow water to pass through the fuel system to be burned off in the cylinders. The tolerances of the fuel injectors are so precise that this could cause damage and failure of the injectors from the lack of lubrication.
Is this what the water dispersers do in stanadyne and power services additives?
