I'm new to the FTE forum's, and thought i'd pass this on to fellow PSD owner's. AutoZone sell's oil filter's for the 6.0 ( STP#9549 ) for $10.99. They appear to be the same manuf. as Motorcraft, and Raycor. They are shrink wrapped with the same instruction's, and are printed, MADE IN GERMANY on the bottom.
3/4ER..........WELCOME to FTE, and what a way to start, posting info.
Thanks, now its time to hang out and meet the folks here.
Stop by the sponsors at the top of each page, might want to check out oilguard and MotorHaven, very cool stuff.
TIM, I THOUGHT OILGUARD WAS AN IMPORTANT ADDITION TO MY TRUCK EVEN BEFORE I ORDERED IT. IT'S ON THE WAY, SHOULD RECIEVE IT SOMETIME NEXT WEEK. GAUGE'S (AUTOMETER CARBONFIBER) AND POD (UNDER DASH TRIPLE) ARE NEXT. MY TRUCK IS AN 04-3/04 BUILD, COULD'NT BE HAPPIER WITH IT. SO FAR 2300 MILE'S ON ODOMETER, AND AS SOON AS I GET THE OILGUARD I'M CHANGING THE OIL, MOBIL 1 TRUCK & SUV 5W40 (AKA DELVAC 1 ).http://campaigns.ford-trucks.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

Great choice on the oil>>IMO Be sure to take your "caps Locks" off, in computer terms. it means your telling at us, I know your not....but.
By the way did you take a look at MotorHaven for the your parts, like gauges?
The oilguard is one of the best aftermarket items you can buy..IMO
Not sure about oil filters, but there is a difference on fuel filters. I have cut and pasted from "Dieselman's website" the following info which is very beneficial. Nte the small changes made that do not equal Ford's filter (or Internationals)...
If the fuel becomes very contaminated, you'll want to change the filter. Some aftermarket filters have a square-cut o-ring seal instead of the lip type of the original [IMAGE]. I recommend using the Ford Motorcraft filters FD4595 for the 94-98 and FD4596 for the 98.5-2K or their Racor equivalents: IN F4595 and IN F4596. The WIX 33518/NAPA Gold 3518 used to be identical to these, but reciently they changed design (without changing part numbers) to a square cut lid seal and a weak grommet-like lower seal which tends to split. The fuel filter also has a pin in the top which opens a valve inside the filter housing standpipe. Some aftermarket filters have a shorter pin than necessary which results in the valve not opening completely and this can cause lack of power concerns. The fuel filter should be changed at 15,000 mile intervals.
Do not use any fuel additive containing alcohol or ones that would allow water to pass through the fuel system to be burned off in the cylinders. The tolerances of the fuel injectors are so precise that this could cause damage and failure of the injectors from the lack of lubrication. Also using fuel not ment for highway use could cause damage to the injectors or the catalytic converter. Ford does have a fuel additive for use during break-in periods such as when the injectors are serviced, and is recommended for use any time fuel quality is in question; P/N F8AZ-9C077-AA. In cold weather conditions Stanadyne's Performance/All Season Fuel Conditioner (P/N 29409[pt]).
Above all, do not mix gasolene in with the diesel fuel. If you have an algae problem, there are fuel conditioners to correct this, too.

Went to Autozone to get my $10.99 oil filter, No luck. First non in stock, then I was told the price was $22.50. I have A truck parts house selling them for $16.50 wix brand, but its A little bit of A drive to long beach .
I live on Long Island, and that's what they charge here. I also went to NAPA auto part's, same identical filter, instruction's, made in Germany etc., they wanted $22.00. If you go on EBAY you'll see the Motorcraft filter is shrink wrapped with instruction's, and o-ring, some even show the made in Germany printing on the bottom. I would go back to AutoZone and ask why they would charge almost twice the price for the same filter, as they sell in New York. You could also try AutoZone online, i'm sure you'll get the right price. Last but not least, i spent $40,000 for my truck, and i'm not about to compromise my investment with a second rate filter, i've done my research, and i'm confident i bought the right filter, at the right price. One more thing, i'd be the last person to by an STP filter, but obviously this filter is repackaged by Champion Lab's. I rest my case!
Not looking for cheap filter just A store closes by to get it. I've bougt wix brand last time, It looked exactly like the factory one, from what I'm reading in this forum all the brands have the same numbers and packaging, sound like they may be coming from the same sorce.
Sorry, i did'nt mean to imply anyone was cheap, just can't see paying 3 time's as much for a Motorcraft filter, when the STP filter appear's to be the same manufacturer. Obviously Champion Lab's repackaged this filter. Is the Wix filter the same as i described ( shrink wrapped, instruction label, o-ring, and stamped on bottom, made in Germany )? Good luck with finding this filter, why spend more than you have to for the same filter.
Just received 3 Wix oil filters, 2 Wix fuel filter packages, and one Wix air filter from Filter1. Called the 1-800 number and requested to order, Got free shipping due to purchase of 6 filters or more. The oil filters were quoted at being 11.40 each, fuel was 38.40 each, and the Wix air was $37.75. Place is in NY, I live in VA, got them in 3 business days. Checked the oil filter and it is identical to the FL2016 I bought from Ford Dealer for $22.82. Made in Germany with the number 32007 stamped on bottom. Have nothing to compare with fuel or air, but looks identical from pictures others have posted. I am not promoting Filter1 but seems that is the hot place to buy from right now. By the way, the STP filter that was $10.99 is now $22.95 on the web page for AutoZone. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Love my 04/03 Excursion!!
I just bought a MC FL2016 at O'Reilly's. They quoted $22. I said I could get it at the zone for 18. He called the Zone and they quoted $20. So I got it for $20. I will stick with the MotorCraft brand until warranty is over.
I don't have a diesel, yet, but thanks for posting the different brands, prices, service and the differences between the good filters and the bad ones.. I'd rather spend the saved money on more ($2.32/gal) diesel out here. With some of the problems folks have been having with warranty claims, I'd only buy the cheaper filters if they were cheaper in price, not quality..
