Forged Steel Crank

I have heard it often that forged steel cranks are stronger, but aren't the other cranks, I guess they would be cast, adequately strong? Is the main advantage to the forged crank that they can be offset ground for longer stroke?
One more question, was the forged crank used in 63 pickups? I am trying to buy a core 292 not far from me that is in a 1963 3/4 ton 4WD.
I also read that the later model trucks equipped with Y's, had stronger blocks that could withstand larger overbores.
True?

The forged crank was standard in 61-4 F-600's and optional in others. I have found them in F/C-500's. The VIN tag plate will say HD if the option was installed.

That crank is stronger but heavier than the cast version. I see no particular advantage in using in a truck unless you are really going to run it hard such as an overloaded dump.

I have one in my 54 F-350 but that was only 'cuz the donor engine came from a 64 F-600.
The Altered roadster Im building will be running a reground 312 crank in a 292 block, I see no need for the forged version.
