Before this gets sent to the suspension section, I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with add on traction bars (not ladder bars). Specifically the $70 ones at bronco graveyard. I have a bad axle wrap problem and do not want to buy springs. Thanks
What kind of truck do you have? Axle wrap is often caused by lift blocks or worn out leaf springs. If your springs are tired a traction bar is only a band-aid.
I agree with Ivan. You should use poly bushings on the springs. Get rid of any lift blocks. Check your U-bolts. Check the springs for cracked leaves. Thos slapper bars are a problem waiting to happen.
You are correct about the lift block assumption, as for the weak springs, I do not know. I have the factory block (with the part that hits the frame bumper) and i put in a 2.5" block to level the truck, since the front has some added leaves. I have an F250 4x4, and I am only trying to fix the occational wheel hop that occurs when I hit sand from a stop. I do not want to take off fast or anything like that, its just embarressing when it happens and the wheels start literally bouncing off the ground.
IMO spring's "worn-out-ness" doesn't really matter. Lift blocks definitely do, but I have brand new springs and they have just as much wheel hop as I used to have. I got some superlift true-trac bars, they're ok.
