May I suggest you re-post this as a new thread? It gets confusing to deal with different subjects in the same thread.
To answer your question, a 381xxx serial number is a February '63 birthdate.
All trucks made in February '63 will have a serial number between 380xxx and 389xxx.
Note that it doesn't mean 9,999 trucks were made in Feb '63, but it means that all trucks made in Feb '63 wil have their serial number fall in that range.

Does that help?
Post the rest of your VIN Warranty plate information (in another thread!) and we can decode it further.

I'm new at this and am a little confuse as to "stepside" styleside" etc.
